چکیده

The coexistence among different systems is a fundamental issue in communications. Both coexistence analysis, i.e. measuring the mutual interference, as well as coexistence techniques, i.e. all the actions that guarantee the simultaneous use of the spectrum by different systems, have an impact on the performance of the system. This paper is focused on both these two aspects. In particular, we analyze the coexistence between ultrawide bandwidth (UWB) and narrow bandwidth (NB) systems emphasizing the role of spectrum sensing to identify and classify the NB interferers with highest powers. Direct Sequence (DS)-Time Hopping (TH) codes are then designed to mitigate the identified NB interference where notch frequencies are created in the UWB signal spectrum at bands where NB services operate. Finally, due to the severe multipath channel of UWB systems, a scenario where spectrum is sensed every symbol-duration to apply the mitigation technique on the identified NB interferer is presented.

Paper Title (use style: paper title)

Ultra Wideband (UWB) is an attractive technique that enables coexistence with other radio systems using very short pulses and spread spectrum. However there are potential interferences each other if UWB and other radio system are used same frequency band at close range. This paper discusses interference detection and mitigation techniques for pulse based UWB (p-UWB). A multi-carrier template wa...

Adaptive narrowband interference mitigation by designing UWB waveforms based on radial basis function neural networks

In order to mitigate the mutual interference between ultra-wideband (UWB) impulse radio and other existing wireless systems, a novel adaptive interference-avoiding UWB pulse, in the context of the appealing cognitive radio, is presented based on the radial basis function neural networks. Theoretical and implementation architecture for UWB pulse generator is addressed. Transmission performance i...

Residue number system assisted fast frequency-hopped synchronous ultra-wideband spread-spectrum multiple-access: a design alternative to impulse radio

Ultra-wideband (UWB) systems having a bandwidth on the order of gigahertz have recently received wide attention both in the U.S. and in Europe. The family of UWB systems may communicate either by generating ultra-wideband signals or with the aid of innovatively combining conventional narrowband, wideband, or broadband signals. At the time of writing, UWB systems have only been implemented using...

A Theoretical Study on the Effects of Timing Jitter on the Performance of Multiple Access Impulse Radio

In February of 2002, the FCC approved the use of ultra-wideband (UWB) technology for commercial use. UWB has since been considered as a solution for the next generation of personal area networks (PANs) and wireless local area networks (WLANs). UWB (or impulse) radio employs short duration pulses to communicate, thereby spreading signal energy very “thinly” from DC to a few gigahertz [1]. The “u...

Wavelet-based spectral shaping of UWB radio signal for multisystem coexistence

Although Ultra Wide Band (UWB) wireless systems supposed to coexist with other spectrally overlapping (narrowband) wireless systems, mutual interference degrades the performance of both systems. In this paper we investigate two techniques for reducing this mutual interference which do not require modification of the narrowband system. We propose to shape the spectrum of the Transmitted Referenc...
